The Kraftur memorial fund was established on July 9, 2019, in memory of our good friend, Bjarki Már Sigvaldason, who passed away on June 27, 2019, after a seven-year battle with cancer. The fund was established in memory of him and to honor the values he upheld. To not let illness control your life, but to live for today.
When a Kraftur member dies due to cancer or its consequences, the fund helps relatives cover funeral expenses. In many cases, funeral costs are very high and are added to the costs that have already been paid due to the deceased’s previous illness.
The proceeds from Kraftur’s commemorative cards go directly to this fund.
The fund’s rules
- The Kraftur memorial fund allocates 350,000 kronur to cover the funeral costs of Kraftur members who have died of cancer or its consequences between 18 and 45.
- The fund must receive applications within six months of the date of death. A death certificate must accompany the application. Payments are only made to the next of kin.
- Once Kraftur’s annual accounts are available, Kraftur’s board determines the amount of the grant from Kraftur’s memorial fund.
- Kraftur’s board may consider grant applications in special circumstances.
