The Kraftur Support Fund aims to provide financial assistance to young adults diagnosed with cancer. The support fund is intended to cover costs that fall outside of co-payment as well as other loss of income that may occur due to the person’s illness.
The fund is distributed twice a year, in April and November. Applications for the spring fund must be submitted by 1st April, and allocations for the November fund must be submitted by 1st November. No specific amount is requested, yet the fund’s board determines the amount according to the fund’s status after assessing the need. Responses to applications will be received no later than six weeks after the deadline.
Please include the following data with your fund application:
a. A recent medical certificate that reflects the illness’ current status or diagnosis.
b. Your tax return for the last two years. In the event the tax returns do not reflect the current financial situation, it is important to demonstrate this with other data.
c. Schedule of payments or out-of-pocket invoices
Kraftur Support Fund was established on Kraftur’s 15th anniversary on October 1, 2014. A benefit concert was held in Harpa concert hall on September 17, 2014, which raised about 2 million ISK for Kraft’s Support Fund. The proceeds went directly to the Support Fund. Moreover, the fund received a generous donation from Atla Thoroddsen’s widow, Ásta Hallgrímsdóttir, a former chairman of Kraftur.
During his illness, he kept a blog, which was later collected into the 2009 book Diary of a Rockstar. The book was sold, and Ásta wished the proceeds to go to Kraftur’s Support Fund. Kraftur’s board decided to name her the fund’s patron on the occasion of the organization’s 15th anniversary.
