Kraft’s memorial fund was established on July 9, 2019, in memory of our good friend, Bjarki Már Sigvaldason, who died on June 27, 2019, after 7-year battle with cancer. The fund was established to honor his memory and the good values he stood for. Not to let the illness control your life, but to live for today.

The purpose of the fund is to support relatives to cover funeral expenses when a Kraft member dies due to cancer or its consequences. Funeral costs are often very high and are added to the costs that have already been paid due to the deceased’s previous illness.

All proceeds from the sale of Kraft commemorative cards go directly to this fund.

The rules of the fund

  • Kraft’s memorial fund allocates ISK. 300,000 to cover the funeral costs of a Kraft member who died of cancer or its consequences between the ages of 18 and 45.
  • Applications must be received by the fund no later than 6 months after the date of death. The application must be accompanied by a death certificate. Only the next of kin’s account is paid.
  • Annually, Kraft´s board decides the amount of the grant from Kraft’s memorial fund, after Kraft´s annual accounts are available.
  • In special circumstances, Kraft’s board will consider a grant application.
